  • The railway protective force is a security force that is responsible for protecting railway premises, passenger, maintaining law and order in railway areas.  It exists under the Group 'A' Central Civil Service and is authorized by Ministry of Railways (India).  The main motive of RPF is to prevent the criminals, remove the anti-social elements from the railway property, prevent trafficking, improve the efficiency and provide protection to the passenger. 
  • RPF offers an enormous job opportunity to those who want to opt Indian railway career.  You can join RPF by giving UPSC exams that conducts on annual basis. Being a part of RPF you will be entitled to take care of railways premises, railway activity and railway operation in a best possible manner. 
  • You can apply for RPF after completing your 10+2 and graduation as well. The jobs are available for both male and female candidate. Following are the activity which you would have to perform as RPF:
  1. Remove any obstacle in the movement of railway property,
  2. To take any favorable action for the betterment of railway premises 
  3. To ensure smooth train operations,
  4. To prevention of any cognizable offence against the passengers.. Etc
     

Medical requirement
For male:

  • Height: for UR/OBC category - 165cms, for SC/ST category – 160cms, for Hillman category – 163cms
  • Chest:  for UR/OBC category – Unexpanded - 80cms & Expanded – 85cms, for SC/ST category – Unexpanded - 76.2cms and Expanded – 81.2cms, for Hillman category – Unexpanded - 80cms & Expanded – 85cms

For female:

  • Height: for UR/OBC category - 157cms, for SC/ST category – 152cms, for Hillman category – 155cms

  • There are many promotional aspects in RPF, you can applied for it as per your seniority. These promotions will be based on the merit list only. Being a part of RPF, you will learn lot of thing. After being retired or ex-serviceman you can further apply for other government jobs that take place from time to time. Besides all this, the standard food and medical care will be provided. Moreover, you will have the opportunity of adventurous life throughout the service.

    The salary is exceptionally high in commissioned ranks. In these commissioned ranks you will have salary ranging from 70,000 rupee to 90,000 rupee on monthly basis. In addition to benefits you are already familiar with (such as: facilities for the well being of your immediate family, like free affordable housing, children education fund) you will have also have outstation allowances, concessional rail passes for your immediate family.  At the time of retirement you will have decent retirement funds.
