All India Institute of Hygiene and Public Health is commonly known as AIIM&PH, it is a top leading Indian Institute for Research &Training in Allied Science and Public Health. The college is located in Kolkata, West Bengal and established in the year 1932. The Institute functions under the Director Gen. of Health Services, New Delhi, MH&FM, Government of India and now affiliated to West Bengal University of Health Science, since 2003. In 1943, AIIH & PH developed borehole latrine with the joint collaboration with Rockefeller Foundation.
The institute provides the education in various disciplines such as Biochemistry and Nutrition, Health Promotion and Education, Microbiology, Occupational Health, Public Health nursing, Public Health Administration, Environmental Sanitation and Sanitary Engineering, Preventive and Social Medicine, Maternal and Child Health, Health Promotion and Education, Behavioural Sciences, and Statistics etc. It has also conducts short term courses/ Training programmes related to different categories etc.
AIIM&PH is also one of the 9 institutions in India which offers the Post Graduate Diploma in Public Health Management.

For admission to PG Diploma in Health Promotion and Education, students must have completed MBBS degree/ Master’s degree in Arts/ Science/ Nursing/ Education or Bachelor’s degree in Arts/ Science/ Nursing or education with minimum 2 years of work experience in Community Work. Students will have to appear for Admission Test conducted by the West Bengal University of health science. Admission will be strictly done on the basis of score obtained in admission test.
Admission to PG Diploma in Health Science, students must have completed graduation in any discipline with Mathematics or Statistics as main subject at 10+2 level. Student must not be more than 30 years, relaxation of 5 years for SC/ ST and 3 years for OBC students. For sponsored category students, there is no age limit. There is also reservation for the SC/ST/ OBC and Physically Handicapped students. Preference will be given to those students who have work experience in the field of Statistics/ Health Statistics.
Admission to PG Diploma in Industrial Health and PG Diploma in Maternity and Child Welfar, students must have completed MBBS with one year rotatory internship training. Reservation for the SC/ST/OBC/PH category students. Admission will be done through Competitive Entrance Test held at national level and Entrance exam conducted by WBUHS.
For admission to PG Diploma in Dietetics, students must hold bachelor’s degree in Physiology/ Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics/ Food and Nutrition/ Nursing/ MBBS/ BHMS. Admission will be done on through admission test conducted by All India Institute of Hygiene and Public Health.
Admission to PG Diploma in Public Health, must have done MBBS and one year internship. The total seats are divides into two parts i.e. All India Quota and State Quota (West Bengal). Admission to All India quota seats will be done through Entrance Test at national level and admission for state quota seats will be done through Entrance test conducted by West Bengal University of Health Science.
For admission to MD in Community Medicine, must have completed MBBS with one year rotating internship training recognized by MCI. Admission will be done through Competitive Test at national level (AIPGMEE) and also State Entrance Examination conducted by West Bengal University of Health Science (WBPGMAT).
To get admission to Master of Engineering Public Health program, Must have done bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline from recognized University.
Admission to M.Sc in Applied Nutrition, students must have completed B.Sc hons. in Food and Nutrition/ Food Science/ Physiology/ Food Technology/ B.Sc in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics with minimum 50% marks from recognized University. Admission will be done on the basis of score obtained in WBPGANAT (West Bengal Post Graduate Applied Nutrition Admission Test Examination).
Admission to Master in Veterinary Public Health, students must have done MBBS/ B.Vsc &AH degree from any recognized University by University of Calcutta. Preference will be given to those students who have one year experience in the field of Veterinary Science (2) deputed by the central or state government or any other recognized bodies.
