Anna University is a Public State University located in Chennai and established in the year 1978. It consists of 6 Government Engineering Colleges, 3 government aided private institutions and 426 self financing colleges located in the state of Tamil nadu.

It also has four Top Institutes such as College of Engineering, Guindy, School of Architecture and Planning, Madras Institute of Technology and Alagappa College of Technology.

The University is affiliated by University Grants Commission and approved by All India Council of Technical Education.

Anna University ranked 651-700 in the QS World University Rankings of 2021, 301-305 in Asia and 85 among BRICS Nations. It was ranked in tenth in India overall by the National Institutional Ranking Framework in 2021 fourth among Universities, 8th in the Engineering ranking and 28 in the management ranking.

• Admission to B.Tech/ BE/ B.Arch, students must have completed 10+2 with PCM subjects and secured minimum 50% marks from recognized Board. Students will be shortlisted on the basis of marks obtained in 10+2 followed by TNEA (Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission) Counseling. 
• NATA score is compulsory for B.Arch course.
• Admission at Post Graduate level courses like M.Arch, MBA, M.Plan and MCA will be done on the basis of  score obtained in TANCET (Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test) followed by University based Counseling.
• To take admission into M.E and M.Tech courses must have completed Bachelor’s degree/ AIME in relevant disciplines with minimum 50% marks (45% for SC/ST) from recognized Board. Admission will be done on the basis of score obtained in TANCET/ GATE followed by University based Counseling
• Admission to M.Sc and M.Phil courses will be done through Entrance Test conducted by Anna University at difference centres located in Chennai.
• For admission to Ph.D and MS Research programs, students must hold Master’s degree in relevant discipline from recognized University. Students will be required to appear in Written test conducted by Anna University followed by an Interview.
• Studensts who have valid score in UGC NET/ UGC CSIR NET/ SLET qualified and Teacher fellowship holder can take direct admission and they have to appear only in the Interview round.

Application Process:

• Students can fill up the application form online by visiting the official  website of TNEA followed by Document verification. Students can choose their choice of college and branch after paying the initial deposit i.e. Rs.500 (250 for SC/ ST/ PH). Only admission Authority will confirm the final seat allotment.
• Application form for M.S and Ph.D will be filled on the University official website on the payment of Rs.800 (400 for Sc/ST ) through Net banking/ Credit or Debit card.
• Students can fill application form for Master’s course by visiting the official website of TANCET and pay the application form fee of Rs.500 (250 for Sc/ST/ PH) by Credit/ Debit/ Net banking.
•  Applcation form for M.Sc and M.Phil can be filled by visiting the official website of Anna University followed by the submission of Rs.700 (350 for Sc/ST/ Ph category students) as the application form fee.

• The Fee Structure is quite normal comparatively to other colleges in the city. There is concession in fees for the SC/ ST/ OBC and financial weak students.
• The fee structure is manageable to pay but on project time it is little expensive.
