Birsa Institute of Technology (BIT) is a government Engineering College which is located in Sindri, Jharkhand. The college was previously known as Bihar Institute of Technology which has been established in the year 1949. BIT Sindri is approved by AICTE New Delhi and affiliated to Vinoba Bhave University and most of the courses are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi.

BIT Sindri has been ranked 24 among Engineering Colleges in India by outlook India in 2021.

The college imparts the technical education in the field of Engineering. The offered courses are B.Tech in Chemical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Metallurgy, Production Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mining, Information Technology etc, M.Tech in Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Ph.D.

The campus of BIT Sindri is spread over an area of 400 acres of land. BIT offers the B.Tech course in 10 specializations. To be eligible for B.Tech course, students have to complete 10+2 in science stream with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as main subjects from recognized Board. They need to score minimum 50% marks in 10+2 examination. Students have to appear in Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (JCECE). Admission will be done through counseling based on the score obtained in JCECE.
To get admission to Post graduate courses i.e. M.Tech in various specializations, students must have done B.Tech or BE in relevant discipline of Engineering and obtained minimum 60% marks from recognized University. Admission will be done on the basis of score obtained in GATE followed by Interview and Counseling.
For admission to Ph.D Course, students must have completed M.Tech or ME in engineering discipline from recognized University. They must have obtained minimum 60% marks. Admission will be done through Entrance exam followed by Personal Interview.

BIT Sindri Fee Structure is less as being a Government Engineering College. College provides the scholarship on the basis of score obtained in entrance exam/ 10+2 examination.
The total fee of B.Tech course is Rs. 80,900.
Hostel and Mess charge will be taken separately by the college.
