Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology for Handicapped (A.I.T.H.) situated at Kanpur (U.P., India) was established in the year 1997 by the Government of Uttar Pradesh. It was set up under World Bank assisted project through Technical Education Program. It was Registered under Section 2(f) of UGC Act. 1956. Also the Institute is affiliated to Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow & Board of Technical Education, Lucknow. All the Programs in Institute are A.I.C.T.E New Delhi approved.
The Institute covers the area of 15 Acres, (14,000 sq.mt. ) and well furnished buildings have been constructed so far. The Campus is specially designed for handicapped peoples.
The entire Facility is barrier free and committed to global vision, where normal and disabled students study together.
It has a Barrier free Infrastructure where persons confined on wheelchair may also approach different classrooms, labs, library, etc. Comfortably.
The Aim of A.I.T.H. is to provide meaningful education, of the highest standard and provide leadership in technological innovation.
The Vision is To be an institution of excellence in Engineering, Research, and Innovation to produce skilled and trained manpower (normal & divyang) of the high quality taking in human values.
A.I.T.H. is an autonomous Institute imparting technical education to students through undergraduate and Diploma level courses.
The undergraduate course available at A.I.T.H. is open for both (normal & disabled) where as the diploma level course is completely for physically disabled.
The Institute has number of Departments. Department of Applied Sciences, Architectural Assistantship, Bio – Technology, Chemical Engineering, Computer Sc. & Engg., Electronics Engineering, Information Technology and Modern Office Management & Secretarial Practice.
The Institute offers 4 Diploma and 5 Undergraduate B. Tech Courses. There is intake of 40 each completely for disabled in the Diploma courses whereas the intake of 60 each in B. Tech courses, 60 % seats are reserved in B. Tech courses.
The Admissions for the Degree & Diploma Courses of the Institute are open to the students who/whose parents are domicile of U.P. State only, except for NRI , Foreign/National/PIO.
So, in the Degree Courses, To select the candidates for admission in first year, the A.K.T.U. conducts examination named State Entrance Exam (SEE), minimum qualification needed for appearing in the exam is a pass out (10+2) standard examination. For Admission to second year (For diploma holders or B.Sc. Mathematics. Only), the candidates who have passed diploma (min 60% marks) recognized by the Uttar Pradesh Board of Technical Education are eligible.
Now talking about Admissions in Diploma Courses, Joint Entrance Examination Cell (JEEC), Lucknow conducts Entrance Examination for diploma courses. Minimum qualification needs is to appear in JEE is High School (10th pass), another minimum qualification needed is to appear in JEE is Intermediate (12th pass) with Hindi & English as compulsory subject from Up Board.
The Mode of Payment of Fee to Institute is that the Total fee will be have to be paid in full before the specified date through on line mode. Fee payment link is available in the Institute website.
