Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati is also known as IITG, located in Assam. It is a public Institute, established in the year 1994 by Government of India. It is the 6th Indian Institute of Technology established in India.

IIT Guwahati has been ranked 501-550 in the QS World University ranking of 2021. Also ranked 98 in Asia and 52 among BRICS nations.

It has also been ranked No.8 for Engineering by MHRD in 2021 and ranked 7 for Engineering by India Today in 2021.

The Campus of IITG is spread over an area of 700 acres of Land. It is well connected from the nearby locations. There are 11 departments and many buildings. The infrastructure is well constructed with all modern facilities including Central Library, Smart Classrooms, Wifi Connectivity, Laboratories, 4 lecture Halls, GYM, Workshops, Separate hostel for Boys and Girls, Guest house for Faculty, Medical Aid, Cafeteria, Community Hall, Transport facility, Bank with ATM, Post office and many more.

IITG imparts the highly professional education in the various disciplines such as Engineering, Arts and Social Science, Design, Science etc. The offered courses are B.Tech in Chemical, Civil, Biotechnology, Computer Science Engineering, Mechanical, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Chemical Science and Techonology, B.Des., M.Tech in Biotechnology, Petroleum Engineering, Signal Processing, Transportation, Structural, Geotechnical, Environmental Engineering etc., M.Sc in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Computing, MA in Development studies, M.Des., M.Tech + Ph.D in Computer Science Engineering, Ph.D etc.

It has 10 Research Centre namely Centre for Nanotechnology, Rural Technology, Linguistic Science and Technoloogy, Energy, Environment, Instruments facility, Creativity, Career Development, Computer and Communication Centre, Educational Technology.
IIT, Guwahati conducts various activities like Annual Festivals, Competitions, Alcheringa (Annual Cultural Fest), Techniche (Techno-Management festival), Udgam (annual Entrepreneurship Summit), sports etc.
It also organizes the Educational Trip, Industrial Visit, Seminars, National/ International Conferences etc.

The placement cell conducts various activities like GD Session, Skill Development Programmes, Industrial Training, Seminars, Guest Lectures, Workshops etc, so that students can gain the job oriented skills and face the Interview confidently.

The major visited companies are BHEL, Huawei, L&T, ISRO, Coca Cola, Ericsson, Fluent India, HCL, TATA Motors, HAL, Amazon etc.

Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati Admission 2021

To get admission in B.Tech course, students must have qualified in JEE Mains and JEE Advanced and secured minimum 75% marks in 10+2 examination.
Admission to B.Des, Must have valid score in UCEED.
Students who have qualified in GATE can get admission to M.Tech course.
Students with valid CEED score can take direct admission in M.Des course.
Admission to M.Sc course will be done on the basis of score obtained IIT JAM entrance exam.
Admission to MA in Development Studies, IIT Guwahati conducts separate Written Test followed by Interview.

IITG Fee structure is fairly simple and the fees are quite feasible. The fee of every course varies every year. The fee is affordable because there are fee concession schemes for the students depend on the income of their parents.
The fee structure for those students who are upper middle class background is not high as compared to other colleges. But usually, the lower middle class people can the Educational loans from any Bank.
Students can also apply for the Scholarships schemes.
