Run by the Isabella Thoburn Society of the Methodist Church in India and associated to the University Of Lucknow, Isabella Thoburn College was started on 18th April 1870 as a small school by Miss Thoburn, an American Missionary of Methodist Church whose famous quote is “No people can rise higher as a people than the point to which they educate their women”. To Educate and Empower Indian Women for leadership was the vision of Miss Thoburn. In the Year 1866 school became a College and From the last 128 years, many generations of Academicians, Administrators, Missionaries, and students have passed through this great institution are improving the society and the nation with their knowledge. College is constantly putting effort in providing helpful atmosphere and surroundings not only for good studying but also for the development of mind and character.
Thoburn College has specially qualified and capable Faculty who other than teaching, also counsel and monitor students. The Activities and Programmes are included in campus lifestyle in a way so that they can help students to be academically suitable, honest, and socially responsible. The aim of the college is to provide a Christian atmosphere and Christian service to society. College not only wants to educate but also to be aware and empower the young women who enter college life with expectations & passion.

The Library of Isabella Thoburn College was established in the year 1914, Where students can go through the collection of books before making a choice. The college also has a number of magazines and journals for the students and faculty members. Since 2011, The Central Library at Isabella Thoburn College, Lucknow holds the NLIST- INFLIBNET ( Information & Library Network ), Gandhinagar, Gujarat Membership which provides 6,000+ e-journals & 31,35,000+ e-books for college members. The College also has the membership of NDL ( National Digital Library ) which provides different types of digital content including books, articles, thesis, audio, and other educational materials.
Isabella Thoburn College offers Under-Graduate, Post-Graduate, Professional, and Vocational Courses with the duration of 3 years and 2 years. The Isabella college is symbolized by 10 different ideals and Hope that their students will realize these traits and will maintain these qualities in their lives. Other than this, The Thoburn college has very well built infrastructure facilities inside the campus which includes great ventilated spacious classrooms, slopes for disabled people, a canteen serving hygienic food, well-equipped laboratories, water coolers of Aquaguard for drinking water, seminar halls, Smart classes, LCD projectors, fully stocked Library, A Bank and clean washrooms. For admission to UG courses like B.Sc, BA, and B.Com for the women students will be done through an entrance test. Students will be required to appear on Entrance Test. There is relaxation for those students who belong to the Christian category. Admission will be done on the basis of performance in the entrance test.
For admission to B.Ed, students must have completed graduation in any discipline from a recognized University and obtained a minimum 50% marks in the qualifying examination. They have to appear in the entrance test. Admission is granted on the basis of entrance exam score.
Admission to PG courses like MA and M.Sc will be done on the basis of marks obtained in previous qualifying examinations. They must have scored more than 50% marks in their graduation.
