Madras Institute of Technology is commonly referred as MIT which is located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It is one of the constituent college of Anna University and established in the year 1949. The college is approved by All India Council of Technical Education, New Delhi and affiliated to Anna University. The college imparts the technical education in the field of Engineering and Applied Science.

The offered courses are BE in Aeronautical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Production Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, B.Tech in Rubber and Plastics technology, B.Tech in Information Technology, ME in Aeronautical Engineering, ME in Avionics, ME in Aerospace Technology, M.Tech in rubber and plastics technology, ME in Wireless Technology and many other courses.

There are well equipped and spacious classrooms, computer centre, well equipped labs and workshops, well stocked library with rich collection of books, periodicals etc, seminar hall, auditorium, lecture hall, medical facility, hostel and mess facility, cafeteria and other facilities are also available.

There are well educated and experienced faculty members in all departments who impart the best education to students in their respective disciplines.

The placement record of college is very good and many students have been placed in the reputed companies. The training and placement cell prepares the students for their final campus placement.

The minimum eligibility for BE and B.Tech course is 10+ 2 in science stream with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as main subjects from recognized board and obtained minimum 50% marks in qualifying examination. Students will be selected on the basis of TNEA counseling.

Students must have completed B.Tech or BE degree in relevant discipline to get admission in the M.Tech course. Students must have appeared in GATE or TANCET.

Students who are the residents of Tamil Nadu, must have domicile of Tamil Nadu.
