Muzaffarpur Institute of Technology is commonly known as MIT, Muzaffarpur. It is Government Co-Education Engineering College which has been established in the year 1954. It is of the oldest Engineering Colleges in India. It is approved by All India Council of Technical Education, New Delhi and Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) and affiliated to Aryabhatta Knowlege University, Patna.
MIT campus is sprawl over an area of 250 acres of Land and having best infrastructural facilities inside the college campus. There are well-equipped laboratories and workshops, well-stocked library with rich collection of books, Auditorium, Hostel and Mess, Medical center, Seminar Hall, Cafeteria, Indoor and Outdoor sports, Lectures theatres and many more.
It offers various undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Engineering disciplines such as Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Leather Technology, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Information Technology etc. The college also runs the Undergraduate course in Pharmacy. The offered courses are B.Tech, M.Tech, and B.Pharmacy.
Every year, MIT organizes Originals M-Fest which is an annual technical fest. Many numbers of students come to this fest and make it a huge success. Various technical events also run on campus like Codera, RC Airplanes, Robo sapiens, and Workshop and so on.
It also conducts various curricular and extracurricular activities and programs such as cultural programs, indoor and outdoor sports, seminars, fresher, farewell, competitions, quiz, and many other activities.
The placement cell of MIT works on the training and placement activities and arranges internships, Interview and industrial visit for the students. Major recruiters are TATA Motors, BEML India, Tata Project limited, and Hindustan Zinc Limited etc.

MIT offers the B.Tech course in various specialization, to be eligible for this course, students must have completed 10+2 in science stream with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as main subjects from recognized University. Students will have to appear in Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (B.C.E.C.E.) which will be conducted by Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board. Selected students will be called for counseling and admission will be done only on the basis of score obtained in Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination.
For Admission to M.Tech, students must have completed B.Tech or BE in an Engineering discipline or any other equivalent qualification in relevant discipline from recognized University. Students must have obtained minimum 55% marks in qualifying examination. Students will have to appear for GATE. Admission will be done only on the basis of score obtained in GATE.
B. Pharm admission, students must have completed 10+2 in science stream from recognized board and secured minimum 50% marks. Students will have to appear for Entrance exam. Admission will be done on the merit basis of entrance exam.

MIT fee structure is much nominal as we know it is a Government Engineering College. The total fee for B.Tech course is Rs.1,00,000 and M.Tech course fee is Rs.60,000.
MIT offers the scholarship to students on the basis of their academic performance or marks obtained in the entrance exam.
