The university is a public university, established in the year 1969, located in Jammu & Kashmir.
Ranked 1st amongst the 6 universities in the state by the National Institutional Ranking Framework in the annual national ranking 2021.
Ranked 63rd amongst the Indian Universities under the NIRF in the annual national ranking 2021 released by the HRD Ministry of India.
Offered courses of the university are BA Englishs, B. Com, B.A/ B.Sc. / B.C.A./ B.Com, B.A LL.B, Master degree in Bio technology, Microbiology, Botany, Buddhist studies etc.
The campus has built sophisticated infrastructure facility inside the campus which includes seminar, lecture, conference hall, auditorium, wi-fi connectivity, high technology computer labs, well-stocked library etc.
