M.E. - Heat Power Engineering is known as Master of Engineering in Heat Power Engineering, which is an undergraduate degree program. Heat energy is the basis for most of the power producing and power absorbing devices. This course is all about the principles of mechanics, materials and energy to design as well as manufacture machines and devices of all kinds. It includes the study of Fuels and Combustion, Advanced Heat Transfer, Advanced Fluid Mechanics, Gas Turbine and Jet Propulsion, Theory and Design of I.C. Engine Turbo Machines etc. Through this course, students will know about the working of different types of I.C. engines and their subsystems, Ignition starting systems, Engine friction and lubrication, engine cooling systems and modes of heat transfer and learn about power transmission.
Furthermore, students who hold B.E or B. Tech. degree can apply for this Master degree program. After completion of this degree, they can seek employment in government departments such as CPWD, defense, PWD, posts and telegraphs. Other sectors such as electronics, chemical, power plants, steel plants, agricultural, space research institutes, automobile and aeronautical etc.
