NID (National Institute of Design) is one of the prestigious institutes of Design in India. It organizes NID Entrance Exam annually for the candidates, who want to take admissions in various programs/courses in Design. Candidates, who successfully clear NID Entrance Exam are eligible to get admission in Bachelor of Design (B.Des), Graduate Diploma Program in Design (GDPD) and Master of Design (M.Des).
NID Design Aptitude Test (DAT) splits into two parts, i.e. NID DAT (Prelims) and NID DAT (Mains). Candidates, who clear NID DAT (Prelims) are eligible to appear in NID DAT (Mains). NID DAT (Prelims) is a written test, while NID DAT (Mains) comprises of an Interview round and Studio Test.
There are 100 seats in total for B.Des. the program, whereas 275 seats are offered for M.Des by NID.

NID Entrance Exam 2021 Application Form

NID Entrance Exam 2021 Application form is available on the official website of NID. Here are the details to fill the Application form.
•    First of all, you have to visit the official website of NID for the registration process.
•    Now open the online Application form and enter your personal details like Name, Address, Contact Number, Email ID etc.
•    Now upload your latest scanned color photograph (less than 100KB) and signature (less than 100 KB).
•    Next, candidates have to pay the Application fee for NID Entrance Exam 2021. They can either pay the fee through online mode (Debit/Credit Card/Net Banking) or offline mode (Demand Draft).
•    After submission of the Application fee, now candidates have to submit the Application form and take print out of NID Entrance Exam Application form.
•    Candidates are advised to save the soft copy of the Application form for future reference.

NID Entrance Exam 2021 Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Criteria details of NID Entrance Exams 2021 are as follows:
Eligibility Criteria for B.Des and GDPD Program:
•    Upper age limit for the examination is 20 years on or before 30th June 2021.
•    For Reserved category, there will be 3 years of relaxation.
•    Candidates, who want to appear in NID (DAT) must have to pass 10+2 examination from a recognized board.
•    Candidates, who are appearing in the final year of qualifying examination can also appear in NID (DAT).
Eligibility Criteria for B.Des and GDPD Program:
•    Upper age limit criteria is 30 years as on or before 30 June 2021.
•    3 years relaxation will be given to reserved category, while 5 years relaxation to be given to PwD candidates.
•    Candidates have to pass their Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized University/ Diploma in Design under 10+2+4 pattern.

NID 2021 Entrance Exam Pattern:

•    There are two stages in NID Entrance Exam 2021, candidates need to clear these two stages to take admissions into different courses.
•    Stage 1 is NID DAT (Prelims) which is a Pen and Paper based written test, while NID DAT (Mains) is a Studio Test and Personal Interview.
•    The time duration of NID DAT is 3 hours.
•    NID DAT carries 100 marks.
•    NID DAT is a pen and paper-based test.
•    The medium of instruction in NID DAT is English only.
•    NID DAT comprises of both objectives as well as subjective questions.
•    NID DAT 2021 is divided into two sections, i.e. I and II.
•    Section I consists of Multiple Choice Questions carries 70 marks.
•    While section II contains Subjective Questions carries 30 marks.
•    There will be no negative marking scheme in NID DAT 2021.
•    NID DAT 2021 Studio Test:
For B.Des Candidates:
-    NID Studio Test is conducted to check the drawing/sketching and presentations skills of the candidates.
-    NID Studio Test carries of 100 marks.
-    The time duration of the examination will be 3 hours.
-    The medium of instruction will be English only.
-    Only those who clear the Studio Test are allowed to appear in Personal Interview.
For M.Des Candidates:
-    It comprises of different sections for different formats.
-    Time Duration will be 3 hours.
-    It carries total marks of 100 marks.
-    The medium of instruction will be English only.
