The Post Matric Scholarship scheme for ST students is offered by the government of India and is liberated by different states and union territories. The scheme covers professional, technical as well as nonprofessional and nontechnical courses at various levels including correspondence courses covering distance and continuing education. The schemes were introduced during the year 1944-45 and keep on upgrading time to time. The scheme focuses on the education of the students who are willing to pursue their studies at Post matriculation and post-secondary stage.

• Centrally Sponsored Scheme implemented by the State Government and Union Territory.
• 100% central assistance over and above the committed liability of the state governments/UTs Admn.from Govt of India.
• Scholarships are available for studies in India only.
• The state government and UT to which applicants belong award the scholarship.
• The scheme also covers central assistance to States /UT for setting up Book Banks. 

Eligibility Criteria Post Matric Scholarship Scheme For ST

• The scholarship is paid to students whose parents/guardians income from all the sources does not exceed INR 2.50 Lakh P/A.
•  All children of the same parents/guardians are eligible.
• ST candidates who have passed the matriculation or higher secondary or any higher examination of a recognized university or board secondary education.
• Students who are employed and are on leave without pay for the entire duration of a full-time course.
• The scholarship holder under this scheme is not liable to hold any other scholarship/stipend.
• Students who have received coaching in any other pre-examination training center with financial assistance from the government will be eligible. 

Rewards of Post Matric Scholarship for ST Students

Post Matric Scholarship for ST Students carried many benefits like fees for enrolment, tuition, games, union, library magazines, medical examination, and such other fees which are payable by the students. The scholarship also includes study tours, thesis, and printing charges. Additional allowance to the ST students with disabilities at the prescribed rate for different degrees of disability.

A package grant for INR 19,500 per students per year compromising the following:

• 11,500 per student per year as under boarding and lodging charges.
• Pocket money @ Rs 2000 for 1000 months.
• Blocks and stationary INR 2500
• INR 8000 P/A per student for an honorarium to the principal, experts, and other incidental charges. Besides the amount of scholarship, students with disabilities are also eligible for additional grants provided in the scheme.

How To Apply For Post Matric Scheme for ST Application

• Visit the National Scholarship Portal  and then click “ New Registration”
• Read the guidelines carefully and select your undertaking.
• Select the state of domicile course category, gender, scholarship, and fill all the mandatory details.
• Provide all your bank details and click the “Register” button.
• The mobile number will be verified and an OTP will be created.
• Login using that OTP and fill the form.
• The application password and ID will be generated.

Note- All applicants are advised to fill the form correctly as no changes will be made once the form is submitted.

• Domicile certificate.
• Income Certificate.
• Marksheet/certificate of the last examination passed.
• Caste certificate.
• Proof of bank account as a copy.
• Scanned copy of Aadhaar Card.
• Student photograph.

Important Dates

There are many scholarships running for SC students. Each scholarship has a different deadline. Generally, the scholarship is announced in the month of May-June and lasts till December of a particular year.
