Swami Vivekananda Single Girl Child (SVSGC) Scholarship for Research offered by the University Grants Commission (UGC). This fellowship is exclusively meant for the girl candidate who is the single child of her parents. To be eligible for this fellowship, a candidate must be pursuing a Ph.D. in Social Sciences. This fellowship aims to encourage the higher education of single girl child in Social Sciences.

• A candidate wishing to apply for this scheme must be the single girl child of her parents and must be pursuing a Ph.D. in Social Sciences from a recognized institution of India.
• If there are one daughter and one son in a family then, in this case, the girl candidate is not eligible to apply.
• Those who are pursuing a Ph.D. in distance mode cannot apply.
• Transgender candidates can also apply for this scheme.
• Candidates belonging to the general category should not have an age of more than 40 years as of 6th January 2023-24 (45 years for SC/ST/OBC/PWD category candidates).

Rewards of Swami Vivekananda Single Girl Child Scholarship for Research in Social Sciences Scholarship:

• For the initial 2 years, the fellows will get INR 25,000/- per month and for the remaining period of time INR, 28,000/- per month will be given to the scholars.
• The fellows will also get a contingency grant of INR 10,000/- for the initial 2 years and INR 20,500/- for the remaining tenure.
• PWD candidates will receive escorts/reader assistance of INR 2,000/- per month.

• An affidavit on INR 50 stamp paper from the applicant/parent stating that she is the single child of her parents, attested by SDM/First Class Magistrate/Gazetted Officer
